I’m starting to think I’m a bit slow. I’ve heard lots of people rave about Munsterhaus over the years, but I had no idea it was all vegetarian − and almost all vegan!
How did this lovely place, so close to home, escape my attention for all these years?
I know some people think New Year’s resolutions are dumb, but I love them. They’re a chance to re-evaluate things and make plans (even if I don’t always keep them).
A lot of people around me had a horrible time in 2013, but for me personally, it was rather good. I’m hoping 2014 can be just as good – but for everyone, this time! Here are my resolutions to keep me on track for another good year.
Verema didn’t survive
Melbourne’s Spring Racing Carnival has been depressing – especially when Verema was euthanased on the track after breaking a leg (or something like that). I tried not to read any of the articles on any of it, because it just made me feel sick – especially this article by Michael Lynch in the Age, which totally misses the point. RIP Verema.

Spring has really hit Melbourne, and what a glorious day we’ve had! A fantastic day for a walk in our beautiful Royal Botanic Gardens. Today we were lucky enough to see some of the newest fluffy downy residents!
It seemed like everyone was trying to take their mind off the disappointing Australian election results yesterday. Luckily it was a glorious Spring day and there were a lot of distractions.
Here’s how mine turned out.
Yesterday I handed in my final assessment piece for my Masters course— what a relief! So, after another semester of throwing together dinner, buying takeaway and eating out, I just wanted to take my time and make a bit of a special celebratory dinner tonight.
With some yummy puffed tofu in the fridge waiting to be eaten, I had a hankering for a Thai curry, and visited S-I-X shops before I found a Thai curry paste that didn’t contain shrimp paste. I’ve bought it many times before but, for the life of me, I couldn’t remember where I’d got it! I wouldn’t give up though. My mouth was already watering at the thought of the curry.
Happy International Respect for Chickens Day…Happy International Star Wars Day (May the 4th Be With You) and happy birthday to me!
I got to do whatever I wanted today, so after a trip to the farmers’ market (with potato and lentil dosas for breakfast), we set off to visit the 3 Sea Shepherd ships docked at Seaworks in Williamstown—the Steve Irwin, Bob Barker and Sam Simon.
Hip Hop Bob sniffing around at Princes Park on Edgar’s Mission’s 10th birthday.
I’ve been deep in Assignment-Writing Land lately, but today I took a day out to join in the 10th birthday celebrations for Edgar’s Mission, as they launched their Kindness Challenge.
