Eurovision and comfort food

It’s seems like I’ve been missing in action for the last few months. It’s been crazy! I had a milestone birthday, left a job I’d been happy in for 11 years and started a new job working longer hours.

And that was just me! My daughter left school and started a fantastic new course and our dog had some health problems and needed lots of vet visits and special care (he’s fine now).

Throughout that time I had lots of ideas for blog posts, but I just never had the time or energy for writing, until now.

An uncle’s memorial, a 21st birthday and a cyst

It’s been an unusual week, with lots of ups and downs. We’ve had a death, a birthday, a painful cyst and tomorrow, we have a big exam (or our son does) – and all of these occasions called for vegan foods that I don’t usually make. I did quite a bit of  Googling and flicking through cookbooks, and here’s what I came up with.

Black bean and quinoa soup

The photo doesn’t really do it justice. It was much brighter than this in real life. I really need to become a better photographer.

I’ve been making lots of yummy things lately, but I never seem to remember to take a photo of any of them before I stuff them into my mouth!

A recipe blog entry isn’t very interesting without a picture, so it’s been a while since I’ve posted a recipe.

Well, tonight I re-made a Post Punk Kitchen recipe for Black Bean and Quinoa Soup, and managed to restrain myself long enough to get a photo before I gobbled it up.
