Well, we’re still hanging around the hospital for most of the day, so this will be another quick post. Even shorter than yesterday, because I haven’t cooked and only ate one meal – and not in the hospital this time.

Mum’s in hospital, but Vegan MOFO must go on…
When your mum is rushed to hospital in an ambulance, normal life has to be put on hold for a while. So this will be a short post – my Vegan MOFO adventures in the hospital.
Burgers, chips and banana splits
Yesterday the sun was shining again. We walked the dog, and then I felt all inspired to do homey things. I started by sweeping leaves and then planted some new lettuces. That was enough outdoorsy stuff for me! I retreated to the kitchen to find something delicious to make for dinner.
Lentil-a-roni: Inspiration from Vegan MOFO
I had no ideas for dinner. The family all suggested pasta, but I couldn’t muster any enthusiasm for our usual pasta sauces. Then Vegan MOFO saved the day… I opened up my Feedly RSS feed and the first post to pop up was Veganopoulous’s post on Lentil-a-roni from Isa Does It. Bingo!

Tadka Boom! Surprise vegan
Have you ever been somewhere to buy your lunch in a place that you aren’t even sure would have anything you can eat… and there’s a vegan working there who steps forward like some kind of saviour, and knows exactly what you can eat?
It’s happened to me 3 wonderful times now, and one of those times was today, when I went to buy my lunch.

Rainy day curry

This wasn’t the usual minor blip in our journey, the tram had lost all power, and the driver announced that we’d have to walk through from Smith Street to Brunswick Street (which ended up being 15 minutes in the bucketing rain) to catch a re-routed tram.

It’s time I started eating sensibly again
As you would know if you’ve seen my last few posts, I’ve been eating WAY TOO MUCH over the last few days. It’s time to get back to normal before I put on all my recently-lost weight again!
So today I’m going to try going back to eating smaller (normal) portions, make sure I eat a good amount of fruit and/or vegies every time I eat, and not drink wine or beer every night! That’s basically how I lost the weight in the first place.
Father’s Day where it all began
It’s Father’s Day today in Australia, and it’s ANOTHER glorious spring day. The best part is that our kids are obliged to hang out with us for a while, because years ago we banned Mother’s Day and Father’s Day presents in our house.
