Are San Churro churros still vegan? I’ve heard rumours that they aren’t – that they and the hot chocolate contain eggs! Yikes! I had to check that out.
At around 1.30pm on Friday I jumped off the 86 tram just before it turned into Gertrude Street. I had an appointment in East Melbourne, but realised I had some time to kill, and I hadn’t eaten since 6am. Luckily I was in Fitzroy, because I needed to find vegan food, fast!
Here’s a very quick rundown of a restaurant I hardly ever hear about – Papasito in High Street, Northcote.
Most people wouldn’t need to be begged or nagged to go to a South Pacific island, but I did. I had so many reasons not to go, that it’s taken my husband, B, almost 25 years to get me to Rarotonga in the Cook Islands – but I’m glad I finally made it, and now I can’t wait to go back!
Every year we go away in early January, and every year it’s freezing cold. This year, we thought we’d be very clever and organise a short break at the end of January instead. After all, everyone knows the hottest weather happens just as the kids go back to school! So we’ve just come back from 3 days in Lorne and…it was just as cold as our early January holidays!
Sitting in a shady beer garden on a warm sunny day with a good friend, eating delicious vegan food, is just about my favourite thing to do.
Today was our 23rd wedding anniversary. Should we buy each other a ‘silver plated’ gift (supposedly the traditional gift for the 23rd anniversary)? Or should we just go somewhere nice to eat? I’m sure you can guess what we chose!
As I’ve mentioned before The Tramway Hotel is where I met my husband – 25 years ago this year – so it holds a special place in our hearts.
For the last few years the menu has been really good, with a couple of great vegan options, so I was just a little bit terrified when the management changed hands and very soon they were advertising their “New Menu”.
Well, we’re still hanging around the hospital for most of the day, so this will be another quick post. Even shorter than yesterday, because I haven’t cooked and only ate one meal – and not in the hospital this time.
When your mum is rushed to hospital in an ambulance, normal life has to be put on hold for a while. So this will be a short post – my Vegan MOFO adventures in the hospital.
